10 Cool Kids Clothing Brands in South Africa

Today, I am starting a new series – Tuesday 10 and I’m very excited about it!

You know how much I love lists. 😉 so every Tuesday I will be sharing my favorites. From baby bottles to travel. Anything that fits into my lifestyle.

As a mother, I spend a lot of my time shopping for my kids. It can get overwhelming! It is like impossible shopping at the mall with a 3-year-old and a 4-month-old. My husband hates it and refuses to shop with me. It is physically and emotionally draining for everyone. Malls are crowded so I prefer shopping online but when I do get an opportunity I shop on my own.

Tips for a trip to the mall:

  1. Carry a stroller.10 Super Cool Kids Brands
  2. Pack snacks and water.
  3. Choose the right shopping time – if possible avoid shopping with kids during big sales and payday.
  4. Blow off some steam at the mall’s kids play area.

I found 10 cool brands you need to check out online/at the mall if you haven’t already!

2. Naartjie Kids

Naartjie generates ten ranges per year, with brand new prints, fresh colours and current trends for kids from newborn to ten years old.

All designs are carried out on their home turf in Cape Town South Africa, by a team of talented, slightly whacky, but highly skilled designers who get their inspiration from what they see locally in nature or on the streets, as well as global trends, observed on their frequent travels.

Naartjie garments are made almost entirely from 100% cotton, and garment dyed.

Garment dying means that the clothes are dyed after they’ve been stitched up. It is a more expensive process but ensures a vibrancy of colour. The garments also have a softer and more authentic feel because of the unique washing processes that they use, and it means they are 100% pre-shrunk.

8. Cotton Candyfloss

Litza is a stay at home mom who has swapped her corporate suits for more comfortable clothes and flat shoes. While searching for a gift to send to her best friend overseas for the birth of her baby, she realised there wasn’t much of a selection of unique and original gifts that she could send that were designed and made in South Africa. Most baby gift shops offered imported gifts for babies and since the gift was going overseas she wanted something from South Africa. So she decided to put her creativity to good use and started Cotton Candyfloss – “handmade baby gifts”.

All products are designed by herself and materials used are locally sourced in South Africa. All packaging is either made from recyclable material or can be reused/repurposed.
