Date Nights…

“What’s that?” you may ask as you sit there breastfeeding your little one, changing a nappy or preparing yet another meal for the umpteenth time!

Can you remember the last time you and your partner had a meaningful conversation together? Just held hands and connected with each other? Really talked to each other? And no, fighting over whose turn it is to change the pooh nappy doesn’t count.

Your vague recollection of Date Nights spent going out, having fun together might seem like a long forgotten distant memory but your connection with each other doesn’t have to be.

So…Date Nights… “What’s that?” You ask again. Date Nights is about making a conscious effort to spend time together. For one night every week, 2 weeks or whatever you can manage, it is a time which you make YOUR time to connect with each other, to really talk to each other, and to hopefully remember each other, the 2 people who fell in love and got to this point in life where you are now.

Whether you don’t go out for Date Nights because it’s too expensive, your baby’s too young or you have no support system, you can still make meaningful time for the 2 of you as I give you just a few great Date Night Ideas to do at home.

10 Date Night Ideas To Do At Home

1. Dance together!

We certainly don’t get much opportunity to go out dancing anymore so make it happen at home. Put on some awesome dancing music that you both enjoy and have fun!

2. Play board games.

Switch the TV off and put all gadgets away. Light the fire, (if it’s cold) pour some wine and bring out the board games. We recently played Scrabble which we have not played in forever and it was a great way to connect and spend time together.

3. Take a bath together.

Light the candles, get some wine, some snacks and indulge in a nice hot bath together. The intimacy and warmth of the bath relaxes you straight away putting you both in the right mood to connect.

4. Cook dinner together.

Make a plan in advance of what you’re going to make. Make it something different and unique that requires some team effort. It can be a really fun and intimate experience.

5. Appreciate each other.

It is very easy to always focus on what our partners are doing wrong but do we tell them about all the things they’re doing right? Take the evening to write down all the things you appreciate about each other and then take turns telling each other.

My husband and I love playing board games after the kids go to bed. It is a great way to spend some quality time with the one you love.

We have a date night every other week because our kiddo goes out for the night for something like boy scouts. We usually watch a movie and cuddle and make a dinner together! These are all good tips.

We try to have date nite as often as we can, at least once a month. But we do spend at least an hour or 2 together alone each nite.

Love the list of ideas. We haven’t done a date night in a long time, but on the flip side, we are together all the time with no kids, so it all works out well.

These are wonderful suggestions. We’ve done these things except for number one. I think it will be fun and romantic.

This is a great list and I love the idea. Relationships are so difficult to remember t nurture when life gets hectic. It is so important to make time for romance with each other.
