10 reasons why you should try Apple Cider Vinegar

I know I’ve been missing in action, well lets just say.. my body demanded time out. After been so busy the past couple weeks, it was time to rest in bed. I ended up getting a cold which lingered in my house for some time. We all had it then it came back to me. Between Kitana and I, we both had it twice already. The one annoying thing about this, was the unbearable cough. I don’t mind having a blocked nose or body ache but that cough which makes you cry… oh no! There were night’s I just could not sleep, the cough wouldn’t let me.. It basically tortured me. I’ve been so exhausted that I didn’t really have time to write my new blog posts, I apologise for the delay in it but trust me it will be worth the wait 🙂 ..

Mommy blogger sick

My husband has been going on and on about apple cider vinegar for the past couple months, I just never bothered to try it with anything he suggested but this past week, it changed my opinion. I tried all types of remedies which many readers suggested for my cough however the only thing that seemed to work for me was Apple Cider Vinegar in water. It tastes horrible but it really did work! I was blown away on how fast it seemed to work, my cough is controllable ever since I drank it which was twice already. I can now sleep more than 5 hours a night which I couldn’t last week Thursday. After researching and finding out the benefits, I decided that I will be making this drink my best friend.

10 reasons why you should try apple cider vinegar

10 reasons why you should try Apple Cider Vinegar:

1. It can remove stains from your teeth:

Want whiter teeth? Rub Apple Cider Vinegar on your teeth then rinse with water.

2. Great for hair:

You can use this to rinse your hair after shampoo. It will boost your hair’s body and shine. Fill 1/2 a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a cup of cold water. Pour the solution through your hair after shampooing several times a week for dramatic results.

3. Weight loss:

My aunties in Durban are so into this, they drink Apple Cider Vinegar daily. Add 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to 1 cup of water. Can drink up to 2 cups a day. This concoction can be sipped throughout the day.

4. Detox:

I cannot believe that ACV can do sooo many things. It’s great for cleansing your body, it even helps with allergies and can reduce sinus congestion.

5. Heartburn, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol

Helps control it.

6. Room freshener

Apple cider vinegar will clean your toilets! Just pour apple cider vinegar into the toilet, and allow it to sit overnight.

7. Soothe sore throat:

It literally cuts through and helps reduce your cough and sore throat.

8. Mosquito bite

A dab of ACV on a cotton ball will help quell the prickly tickle.

9. Skin

It’s great for your skin especially blemishes and eczema. Just dab with a cotton ball.

10.  Dandruff

Mix 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar with 1/4 cup water. The vinegar solution is to restore the pH balance of the scalp and discourage the overgrowth of malassezia furfur, the yeast-like fungus thought to trigger dandruff.

The vinegar mixture is usually poured into a spray bottle and spritzed on the hair and scalp, avoiding the eye and ear area. A towel is then wrapped around the head and left on 15 minutes to an hour. After that, the vinegar can be washed from the hair. Alternative practitioners often recommend it once or twice a week for dandruff.

I cannot drink too much apple cider vinegar because it does a mess to my stomach. I only really drink it when I am sick or have a terrible cough I cannot get rid of. It does work wonders though.

It also works great for GERD, you know acid reflux. You have to know to mix it right to avoid further stomach upset.

Okay you got me convinced, I will definitely buy a bottle next time I am in the store. Those benefits are hard to ignore. My daughter is allergic to mosquito bites so this would be perfect for her.

I agree that ACV has a wealth of benefits! I was drinking it everyday, but I slacked off since the taste is something I could never get accustomed to. However, I need to get back into the habit of incorporating it in my daily routine.

I’ve been using vinegar to clean the house but not the apple cider vinegar specifically. I’ve also heard about using it for the hair but never got to try it. Thank you for the info.

I have also heard that it is a good idea to run vinegar through your coffee maker every once in a while! It helps to clean out the water lines!

I tried it once to help with kidney stones but the taste is just nasty. I really should try it again though since it has so many great uses. Between ACV and coconut oil, that’s about all you need around the house!
