Have you ever walked into a lodge and immediately felt at home? Well, that is what happened to me when I arrived at Buckler’s Africa Lodge by BON Hotels a few weeks ago.
To be honest, I am still on a bit of a high from my recent trip to Mpumalanga. We managed to do a lot in a week however I think ending it off at the Kruger National Park was the cherry on top for me.
Buckler’s Africa Lodge by BON Hotels offers a boutique-style experience. It is a mere 6km from Crocodile Bridge Gate however that doesn’t mean you have to wait to get in the park to start spotting wildlife.

At Buckler’s Africa Lodge, you have the privilege of enjoying the beautiful view of the Crocodile River where Elephants and others may hang out from time to time. You can do this from the comfort of your own room or while enjoying a meal on the deck.
A special mention to the staff:
This lodge has one of the friendliest staff you will come across. I love how seriously they take guests’ feedback and always try their best to make you feel as comfortable as possible.
Some of the Attractions and Activities:
If you love adventure, there are lots for you to do here from quad biking to horseback safari. If you love to get pampered a little, then the in-house Baobab Spa is a must.

The Food:
I think what surprised me the most about this lodge was the delicious food I indulged in throughout my stay. We opted to eat at the restaurant instead of cooking in our unit.
Buckler’s Africa Lodge is not a self-catering lodge however they do offer self-catering facilities.
Each meal I partook in got me excited for the next dish. The food was well presented and delicious – a special mention to Chef Eddy who made me one of the best malva puddings! I’m salivating just thinking about it right now.
The food at the restaurant is halaal.
Suggestions: Try the Fish & Chips or Beef curry if available.

Although alcohol is not sold at the property, guests are more than welcome to bring their alcoholic beverages with them.
The Safari:
Kruger National Park is huge, I’m so glad that we got to see a little of it with Jerry (our guide) from Buckler’s Africa Lodge who has over 21 years of experience in the park.

Why we chose a guide over self-drive.
The guides have years of experience in the park, so they know where the animals hang out at what time and where to go to get the most out of your experience. They also educate you a little more about the wildlife and their natural habitat.

What about the room?
We had a family room that was spacious, extremely comfortable, and clean.

The view from the room is one of the many reasons why I will go back. 😉 You have front row seats to the wildlife and their socialising.
If you are a sucker for good views, food, service, and tranquillity, Buckler’s Africa Lodge is a must-visit. So basically, I’m saying… What are you waiting for? 😊
