Want to try to make your own pizza at home? I got an easy recipe for you!

My kids absolutely love pizza, if my son could help it, he would eat it for breakfast, lunch and supper so, I decided to try and make my own delicious pizza at home using Royal Baking Powder’s recipe. I’m no expert in baking but I knew the kids would enjoy this activity with me especially since I’ve been away in London for a month.

How to make your own delicious pizza at home:

Makes 2 medium pizzas

Ingredients:

  • 500ml (2 cups) cake flour
  • 20ml (4 tsp) Royal Baking Powder
  • 5ml (1 tsp) salt
  • 60g butter or margarine
  • 1 extra-large egg
  • about 100ml milk

Toppings:

  • 50g (1 sachet) tomato paste
  • 30ml (2 Tbsp) water
  • 375ml (11/2 cups) grated mozzarella cheese
  • about 80g sundried tomato quarters in oil
  • about 200g chorizo sausage, sliced
  • about 16 black olives, pitted
  • 100g feta cheese
  • 30ml (2 Tbsp) Chopped fresh basil or 10ml (2 tsp), dried.

Instructions:

Dough: Sift flour, Royal Baking Powder and salt together. Rub in butter with fingertips until mixture represents fine breadcrumbs. Whisk egg and milk together.

Add to dry ingredients and cut it with a knife.

Knead lightly to a soft dough.

Divide dough in half and roll out each piece on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 5mm, keeping it to a round shape.

Place dough bases on greased baking trays.

Topping: Mix tomato paste with water and spread over bases. Sprinkle mozzarella over. Arrange sun-dried tomatoes, sausage and olives on top. Crumble feta cheese over and bake at a preheated oven at 200 °C for about 15 minutes. Sprinkle basil over and serve immediately.

Variation: Substitute mozzarella with cheddar cheese.

Enjoy!

Don’t forget to take a picture of your delicious dish and share it on the Royal Baking Powder Facebook page @RoyalBakingPowderSA and use the #GetItRighwithRoyal.
