Is the SIMBA mattress in the box worth the hype?

One of the latest trends at the moment is the mattress which literally comes in a box. I know… it is hard to believe right?! SIMBA is one of the brands who decided to launch their product here in South Africa exclusively on Takealot.com.

Simba

Many South Africans are nervous about this invention. I don’t blame them. It’s something NEW in the market and might take a while to get used to. Consumers doubt the comfort and quality of the mattress – while in countries like the USA, this product literally flew off shelves because of the convenience factor it brings.

Is it because we as South Africans are still traditional about how we shop?

I’m going, to be honest with you.

For me, buying a mattress has always been a big decision. I used to invest time in researching brands, I visited stores to check out how comfortable the mattress is before I made that final decision.

But all that changed in the last year when time became an issue. I bought my daughter a bunk bed and I ended up purchasing her mattresses online – something I’ve never done before and was so against, but it ended up working out. With trusted reviews from friends and family, I made the right decision.

Let’s get straight to the point, there’s no such thing as the perfect mattress for everyone – even though many brands will promise you that they do have one.

Why? Buying a mattress is very similar to buying a car, everyone’s taste is different. What you find comfortable, I might hate and vice versa.

You might find a mattress that works extremely well for a small group of people and does okay for the majority. The reason for this is because everyone has different sleeping positions and then there’s the whole firm vs soft and the in-between medium-firm mattresses saga.

Let’s talk about the SIMBA mattress:

Each SIMBA mattress is designed in the UK and manufactured in Europe and has undergone years of testing before it was approved ready for market by the team. This was done with data from The Sleep to Live Institute, an institution whose research is based on profiling more than 10 million people and 180 million body profile data points.

When I first heard about SIMBA, I googled the brand immediately and was surprised with the amount of high ratings that the brand boasted on many websites.

I thought to myself: “This is a freaking good mattress or the brand has somehow managed to convince “that small group of people” to rate them on every website that sells the product.”

First Impressions:

When I received my order from Takealot.com, I felt a bit like a kid who received her first present from Santa Clause on Christmas morning.

I was extremely excited and sat on my couch staring at the small box (which most probably could also fit a baby’s pram) eagerly waiting to open it.

The first night on the mattress, I found myself twisting and turning a bit while my son seemed to have slept very comfortably, he didn’t wake up as much as he normally does.

The second night, my body seemed to have adjusted to the mattress and I slept really well. It was a luxurious sleep – something that I definitely needed after a stressful day at work.

The mattress that I previously slept on was worth over 20k and the quality between SIMBA and that brand hadn’t made much of a difference in my sleep on Day 2.

The Unboxing:

Remember the whole Hatchimals hype? Kids were fascinated at the hatching of the egg more than the product itself. It’s kind of similar with the bed in the box, everyone wants to see what happens when you take it out of the box.

SIMBA didn’t disappoint but it also blew me away at how fast the inflating process happened. My eyes lit up as I saw this bed inflating on its own in seconds!

Why SIMBA?

Simba comes in King, Queen, Double and Single size mattresses. However, the best is the KING size based on the quality it offers.

The King size has a unique combination of (up to) 2,500 conical pocket springs conical pocket springs and responsive memory foam which allows you to sleep better, whatever your sleeping pattern and position is.

Even though the KING is the best in the range, the other mattresses do not disappoint. I own a queen size and I still feel like I am sleeping on 7th heaven as the team puts it.

The Simba Sleep has achieved the design team’s five Ss (Sleep Surface, Simbatex comfort layer, Spring powered, shaped for you and Seventh Heaven zoned support) to ensure your ultimate sleep comfort.

Simba sleep

The Five Layers of comfort:

Sleep Surface

Simba’s unique hypoallergenic air-flow sleep surface allows your mattress to breath, providing freshness and temperature control. The enhanced breathability of the material provides you with a cool and comfortable sleep surface and helps your body find the perfect temperature for an undisturbed night’s sleep.

Comfort Memory Foam:

A thick, super comfortable layer of memory foam gives the perfect level of gentle support, contouring to your body and easing movement in the night.

Spring-Powered:

The SIMBA mattress features mini pocket springs that individually adjust as you sleep, so you wake up with a spring in your step for the whole day. Up to 1,900 (depending on size), conical springs with additional foam side panels create the perfect layer of support and comfort.

Shaped for You:

A supportive foam layer works in unison with other layers and ensures your weight is distributed perfectly across the mattress.

Seventh Heaven:

The perfectly engineered support base has 7 different zones to ensure a perfect night’s sleep for all.

The popular question many readers have been asking me is… Can it go back in the box?

No, it can’t because it isn’t a blow-up mattress that you take out when visitors arrive or when you go camping. It is an actual mattress that is meant to be used every night.

SIMBA Mattress is unique because…
It combines a highly engineered support base, along with their unique combination of conical pocket springs and memory foam, allowing two people with different sleeping patterns and body types to enjoy the perfect night’s sleep – without being interrupted by each other.

Mattress Technology:

The Simba Fusion mattress is 25cm deep, combining new generation foams and patented conical pocket springs. At Simba, they take great care to ensure the lowest environmental impact possible from production to delivery.

Warranty:

Every Simba mattress comes with a 5-year guarantee. If your mattress fails during the 5-year warranty period, they exchange it for a brand new one. It’s that simple!

Takealot.com offers you Free Delivery and a hassle-free exchange & return policy for 30 Days.

SIMBA offers you luxury in a box which is designed for your comfort level and convenience. I’m not going to say it is the best bed out there because as I said above, everyone has their own type of comfort, but we tried it with 4 different people at home and it works. So, it is the product that the majority would love. Many who have had backache problems swear by this product in reviews I’ve read.

The only con is it might be expensive (for a bed in a box – but definitely worth an investment) for many but if you are willing to save and invest in a good mattress, I suggest SIMBA be on the top of your list.

Visit Takealot.com to find out more about the ranges available.
