Sometimes school can be overwhelming even when you’re 7 years old.
My son, Kiaan is in grade 2 but to be honest, he has had a bumpy start to school already. For a minute, I didn’t even think he would be in grade 2 this year because of all the challenges we faced last year.
“He is brilliant but has a hard time putting that down on paper” was the exact words his teacher uttered to me last year during a meeting. I’m still not sure if it was supposed to make me feel better or not because honestly, at that moment, I felt like the worst mom in the world.

How could I have not picked up on this earlier? Where did I go wrong? What could I have done better?
The reality is that this happens, kids are so different (trust me, I know, I have 3 kids with 3 different personalities) so we have to stop being so hard on ourselves as moms and think about what we can do to improve the situation or solve it quickly to move forward.
Being a mom is one of the hardest jobs in the world, add that to being a working mom makes it even harder to always be hands-on with the kids when it comes to homework.
I recently came across Teach Me 2 which I wish I knew about last year already! This website is a game changer for us parents.
It’s convenient and offers support from grade 1 all the way to university.
Teach Me 2 was created to help you get your child back on track! They care about your child improving (almost) as much as you do.
The best part is you can do online tutoring or in person so you have the flexibility to choose what works for your family and lifestyle.
Subjects they offer are for Grade 1 to university:

I also came across past matric papers, so the website isn’t just for finding a tutor.
They even offer coaching to help your child build strong study habits which I think is a must. This on its own can help boost your child’s confidence and approach to learning a subject.
I’m already seeing my little one struggle with anxiety, and it isn’t nice, so I’m glad that I live in an age of technology where it’s easily accessible to ask for help and get the support I need because motherhood is all about having a strong support system, right?
